Introducing Afro B - the pioneering artist and DJ, fusing Afrobeats, UK Rap and Bashment together, to create an exciting new sound that is quickly becoming the soundtrack for the UK in 2017! Having garnered over five million streams across YouTube and Soundcloud in 2016 alone, Afro B is also being championed by the likes of Toddla T, MistaJam and Tim Westwood. Born in London to Ivorian parents, Afro B is a seminal figure within the city’s thriving movement of creatives such as Blackbutter Records’ J Hus, Kojo Funds and MOBO Award-nominated MoStack, who are instinctively injecting Afrobeats flavours to UK urban soundscapes, to glorious effects, and cultivating wide-reaching global fans and listeners, as a result.
Having burst onto the scene, hosting one of the UK’s biggest Afrobeats radio shows #AfrobeatsWithAfroB on Reprezent Radio from 2014 to 2015, Afro B fully came into his own as an artist in the last year - collaborating with the likes of Emeli Sande, Yxng Bane, Sneakbo, Tion Wayne and Geko, delivering some of the UK’s biggest street records, and racking in over three million views on YouTube. Currently helming a monthly residency on Radar Radio, Afro B’s recently released AfroWave mixtape is currently causing a massive stir on radio and online, having garnered over 200,000 streams on Soundcloud in just a few weeks, with strong support coming from BBC Radio 1, BBC 1Xtra, Capital Xtra, Rinse FM, GRM Daily and Link Up TV among others. From the ‘Stay Winning’ club smash featuring Sneakbo and Wale, to future street anthem ‘Juice & Power’ which features hotly tipped rapper Yxng Bane, to the raucous bashment-tinged ‘Touch Right’ with rising Dancehall star Lil Keish, the AfroWave mixtape shows that Afro B is right on the cusp of pushing urban culture in the UK, and certainly one artist to watch this year.
