Berwyn

Debuting in 2020 with mixtape DEMOTAPE/VEGA, London-based BERWYN incorporated elements of genres from trap to bedroom pop in his singer/songwriter-led material. Born in Trinidad, vocalist and multi-instrumentalist BERWYN (born Berwyn Du Bois) found his home in London, having moved to Romford, East London at the age of nine. His later part-time work as a DJ amplified his strong affinity for music. A self-taught pianist, guitarist, drummer, and violinist, BERWYN used his creative talents to forge a career for himself: In 2020, the musician debuted with singles "GLORY," "TRAP PHONE," and "017 FREESTYLE," which landed on his debut mixtape DEMOTAPE/VEGA. Released in September of that year, BERWYN's debut was a lo-fi whirl of self-expression, fusing the musician's strong instrumental talents with both rapped and sung verses. The musician's popularity was bolstered after landing the number three spot on the BBC's Sound of 2021 list -- he used this success to build buzz for singles "VINYL" and "100,000,000" before releasing his second mixtape, TAPE 2/FOMALHAUT, in June 2021. ~ David Crone
